Thanks to one of your classmates for pointing this out. Sankey diagrams are an increasingly popular way to visualize the allocation of material. For example, they would make a great way to show energy utilization in your company, or even a mass balance superimposed on a flowsheet. Here's a great example applied to Canada's energy use. Assignment 1 is posted; due 18 January, in class on paper, or electronically. Please do not use the Chem Eng dropbox for assignment submissions. A tutorial for the course software is now available. It shows how to download and install the software and steps to get started. You'll need this for assignment 1.
