* There was an unfortunate typo regarding the surface area of a sphere in the exam. If you used the incorrect version in the exam it will certainly not count against you: we will work with either the incorrect version, or the correct formula, which is of course \(A = 4 \pi r^2\).  
:One must use the area of the particle and relate it to the equivalent area of the sphere. This is because in drying, the heat and mass transfer to dry the solid takes places at the ''surface'' of the particle, not in the ''volume'' of the particle. Please see the [[Course_wrap-up_-_2012| wrap-up class video]] at minute 18:00 for an explanation why.
