Announcements (previous ones)

  • Grades for all assignments, the project and the midterm are now posted on Avenue for 4M3. These grades should agree with your paper copies. Any corrections made by the TA or myself should also be shown correctly now. Grades from the final exam will only be available just before Christmas.

  • There was an unfortunate typo regarding the surface area of a sphere in the exam. If you used the incorrect version in the exam it will certainly not count against you: we will work with either the incorrect version, or the correct formula, which is of course \(A = 4 \pi r^2\).
One must use the area of particle and relate it to the equivalent area of the sphere. This is because in drying, the heat and mass transfer to dry the solid takes places at the surface of the particle, not in the volume of the particle. Please the wrap-up class video at minute 18:00 for an explanation why.
